The Billings Arts Association Images Art Grant encourages and supports art education in our community. We know how art and art appreciation has shaped our lives, we hope we can do a small part to help shape the lives of others.
Your Donation to, and your membership in the Billings Arts Association helps fund these grants. The Association has a long history of supporting the arts in Billings, starting with a fund drive in the 50's to make an art center of the old county jail, which is now the Yellowstone Art Museum. We are proud of our heritage, and are dedicated to continuing it; by giving back to the community though art education, support, and financial assistance.
Your membership, and your donation is appreciated.
As you begin another school year, we want to remind you of our organization, the Billings Arts Association (BAA). We are a regional 501(c )3 organization which encourages participation in, and appreciation of the visual arts and supports arts education with materials grant (up to $500) at every level.
Our members span all mediums, levels of experience from emerging to professional, and all age groups. We are available to talk with classes, demonstrate, or mentor students interested in a specific art medium or technique. Several of our members have completed the Montana Artrepreneurs Program (MAP) and have business savvy as well as creative talents.
BAA is open to all artists high school age and older. Please share this information with your colleagues and students. Grant submissions are an ongoing process, and the application is below. BAA member Barbara Garrett will provide a presentation focused on pastel art, and the grant will provide the professional quality supplies that go into pastel artwork. Barbara will identify five major shapes in a landscape, blocking in an underpainting with pastels using a five step value range, setting the underpainting with water, and working over the dry underpainting with finishing pastels.
This grant will supply Shepherd middle school students with sets of professional quality pastel supplies. These students will begin to use some professional quality art supplies that enhance their art efforts and help them realize what art can bring into their lives.
Since our founding, we have made a significant impact in our community. We have provided opportunities for artists to exhibit their work, connected artists with each other, and brought the arts to underserved communities.
The above shows the two grant winners recieving their awards.
The Billings Arts Association is sponsoring a $500 grant to defray some of the costs of this valuable program. See details on the MAP Brochure above, visit their website or send an inquiry through this website.
