Teresa S Kelly

  Artist Statement & Bio
I’m an artist drawn to color—especially the playful energy of complementary hues. I work with acrylics, oils, and mixed media to create texture, depth, and a sense of movement. My art blends various techniques to capture landscapes, birds, wildlife, and country life, all inspired by a childlike wonder and deep love for nature. There’s often a dreamy, folksy quality to my work, influenced by the likes of Van Gogh, Monet, and Chagall. I embrace rough edges and “happy accidents” that bring character and spontaneity to each piece. My goal is to share beauty and joy—inviting viewers into vibrant, harmonious scenes that celebrate the natural world and reflect my faith.

I was born in Wyoming and moved to Billings, Montana in the fourth grade. Summers were spent in Jackson with my dad, while the school year was spent in Billings with my mom—giving me the best of both worlds and plenty of inspiration from the landscapes around me.
I studied art education at Montana State University–Billings and earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Art in 2000. During college, I actively showed my work and volunteered as a docent at the Yellowstone Art Museum.

For many years, art became more of a side pursuit as I focused on full-time work, periods of disability, and raising my son. But now, in the midst of a mid-life creative reset, I’ve returned to my roots with renewed passion. I'm currently creating new work, participating in local art events, and building an online presence. I’m a proud member of the Billings Art Association and the Carbon County Art Guide in Red Lodge.
