Ev Bergeron

ARTIST’S BIOGRAPHY

Ev Bergeron is a native Montanan who grew up on a northeastern Montana farm.  She has a BA in Fine Art from MSU-B.  She is the newsletter editor for the Billings Arts Association.

Ev has taken watercolor and oil classes from these outstanding teachers:  Ben Steele, Marilyn Hughes, Bernadine Fox, Mike Capser, Susan Blackwood, Nita Engel, Tony Couch, Elliott Eaton, Mary Blain, Stephen Rothwell, Ron Ranson, Lance Johnson, Joe Fettingis, Joseph Zbukvic, Morten Solberg, Gloria Miller Allan, Kathy Anderson, Marc Hanson, John Potter, Daniel Keys, Jerry Inman, Frank Serrano, John Pollock, Connie Herberg, Michael Ome Untiedt, and Tyler Murphy.  

Ev was juried into the Yellowstone Art Museum Auction for the years 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2023.  She was juried into the Montana Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibit in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and is a Signature Member.   Her work was juried into the Carbon County Arts Guild Rocky Mountain Regional Juried Exhibit in 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2016.  She has also been a participating artist in the Carbon County Arts Guild Art in Red Lodge, MT.  

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I am constantly inspired by nature--its trees, its rocks, and especially by the way the light hits a landscape and produces shadows. I hope to paint intuitively the poetic aspects of nature. I love to use deep contrasts to bring out the dramatic qualities of a landscape painting.  But most important is to bring a luminous quality into a painting as if light is in the painting.
